AUDITS
Audits are conducted using industry accepted international auditing protocol and standards. Audits begin with a meeting with corporate PRP’s to define the audit scope and goals. At that time the auditor would receive any pertinent background material available in order to gain a better understanding of the facilities operations and its’ HSE program.
The site audit begins with a meeting with local managers with HSE responsibility a, to discuss goals and the audit process. Following an orientation tour, local management completes a questionnaire to obtain basic information about the facilities health, safety and environmental program and practices.
The evidence-gathering phase is then conducted in an expedient manner without interference with facility operations.
The auditors activities follow a recognized protocol that include:
- Understanding systems and procedures
- Assessment of strengths and weaknesses
- Gather evidence both factual and photographic
- Evaluate findings
- Report findings
- Establish an action plan and implement an effective management system
- Audit,Review Follow up
An audit conclusion meeting is held with facility management and any deficiencies, which IDLH (immediately dangerous to life and health) are noted: so that corrective action can be taken immediately. All audit items are given ratings to help with prioritizing corrective action plans.
The report generally follows within one week after the audit and includes recommendations for improvement with a suggested action list for implementation. The auditor would meet with corporate management to discuss findings and recommendations, after they have had time to review the report.
Vision Project Services Group recommends a follow-up audit be planned to ensure that all deficiencies have been corrected and that the management system is implemented and is effective for the operation.
CONSULTANTS ADVISORS
In your office or in the field Vision HSE personnel provide the HSE support you need. Our consultants can develop HSE plans and programs for projects, locations, or corporate programs.
The challenge for HSE managers is to accumulate data, translate it into information, and integrate it into knowledge that can be translated into decision and action. The Vision Group consultants have been doing this for years and the client gets the benefit of that experience.
We have developed and implemented corporate safety programs and plans for large and small companies. We have provided in house support and training for project planning, contractor selection, bid development and tender evaluation, and project HSE management.
Our international capabilities include securing permits, writing bridging documents to comply with local regulations, and developing site-specific plans to address identified hazards and mitigate environmental damage.
The use of contractors requires that these workers be made aware of potential hazards in the workplace and comply with your safe work practices. The Vision Group consultants are familiar with the challenges of managing contractors HSE, especially on international locations where safety and environmental responsibility are not local priorities.
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Environmental services continue to grow in importance as new environmental issues surface daily. Our environmental consultants have worked on a variety of projects from impact assessments to implementing remedial action plans. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA)
Vision Project Services Group has the capability to carry out EIA’s. The personnel within the company have been intimately involved with the development of EIA processes in all areas of the world, including, Europe, Africa and North and South America.
The Vision Group's personnel have participated in many initial environmental evaluations (IEE’s) and EIA’s at offshore hydrocarbon exploration and production projects both off- and on-shore. In-house capabilities are extensive, for example in:
- Initial environmental screening;
- Survey/sampling design and logistics;
- Field survey including of water, sediments, plankton, and biota (benthos and fish);
- Ecological Impact inventory;
- QA/QC and sample analysis;
- Modelling and GIS;
- Social-economic and attitude surveys;
- Local communities and relation development
- Risk assessment and hazard analysis;
- Impact assessment / mitigation and monitoring;
- Contingency planning for Spillage/Storage
As part of the EIA regular environmental audits ensure that a project is implemented and impacts are according to requirements.
Different types of audits focus on different areas of activity, e.g., areas of operation, compliance, operational efficiency, management systems, energy usage, recycling etc. If areas for improvement are found, recommendations are made as part of the audit program. Often, improvements focus on the maintenance and operational systems or the training of operators.
The Vision Group is able to prepare management and operational documentation to ensure the smooth implementation of environmental management system, mitigation and monitoring programs.
The company conducts the following types of audits:
- Compliance or Regulatory Audits;
- ISO 14001 EMS Audits; and
- Energy Audits.
- Environmental Impact/Management
An Environmental Management System (EMS) is part of the overall management system. An EMS provides order and consistency for companies to address environmental concerns through allocation of resources, assignment of responsibilities and ongoing evaluation of practices, procedures and processes in a continuous improvement process. Data is a fundamental part of the planning and implementation process.
Reliable data are required to develop management information on such subjects as:
- Environmental status;
- Oceanography (including seabed conditions);
- Climate and meteorology;
- Chemical and energy;
- Demographic and social conditions;
- Development plans.
The Vision Group is able to specify and implement the necessary data collection, ensuring quality assurance to international standards. Subsequent interpretation and information generation can be carried out to the appropriate level.
At the EIA stage of a project, an appropriate monitoring program can be developed to ensure regulatory compliance and the mitigation of identified environment impacts. The company is able to specify these programs and set up QA/QC systems, where necessary negotiating with regulators. In addition, Vision can supply and customize software for the inputting of data onto a secure database and the presentation of results.
Similarly, The Vision Group carries out the supervision and QC/QA of post-EIA monitoring programs: dispersion (e.g., dye test), biota contamination, water quality, compliance, etc., combined with modeling and GIS. The company has access to extensive baseline data related to many marine ecosystems. These databases are extremely helpful for time-series interpretation and comparative analysis in new monitoring programs.
One key element in a successful environmental management system is training. The Vision Group can provide Environmental Awareness and Management training to compliment your program.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND CONTINGENCY PLANNING
First hand knowledge gained from actually managing oil spill and HAZMAT emergency responses provides valuable insight in developing contingency and emergency response plans.
The time to consider how to handle an incident is before it happens. Our consultants identify potential scenarios and prepare emergency response plans for worst case as well as minor releases and spills; then establish procedure for dealing with incidents and remedial or corrective actions if required.
Our emergency response planning includes measures to prevent or limit losses in one or more of the following areas.
- Acute health related problems and the effects to workers,
emergency responders
and the public
- Environmental damage
- Production loss
- Property, equipment or product damage
- Loss of good will and public trust
- Third party liabilities
The Vision Group consultants have also evaluated emergency response contactors for our clients using EPA guidelines and internationally recognized criteria. We can audit and assist with the drills and training required to insure timely, effective and efficient emergency management and response.
TRAINING, SAFETY ENVIRONMENTAL
Most environmental and safety incidents are based on mistakes or accidents, rather than deliberate violations. We believe that when people are provided good information on health safety and environmental practices, policies and procedures they will act responsibly.
The Vision Group's OSHA, IOSH,NEBOSH,DOT, EPA and PEC (Petroleum Education Council) certified trainers provide training for the basic safety and environmental training required for compliance. Safety and Environmental management systems seminars have been presented to E P companies worldwide.
Our multimedia training courses can be customized for local or corporate requirements. In house training is the most cost effective option for our clients who have a number of personnel to be trained. We provide you with our course materials to be reproduced in your office; you provide the meeting facility and amenities required for your employees. Or we can produce the course materials at a nominal cost.
